Tattoo studio website design for Zulu Tattoo, an appointment-only studio in Ellesmere Port specialising in custom work, realism, portraits and cover-ups. The studio had built a strong reputation and a loyal client base over several years, largely through word of mouth and social media — but had no website to anchor it.
We designed and built the studio's website on WordPress and Elementor, covering a portfolio gallery, transparent pricing, an enquiry flow for design consultations, digital consent form integration, and a blog for aftercare and first-tattoo guidance.
The brief was to translate an established offline reputation into a digital presence that ranks locally, showcases the artwork properly, and filters enquiries before they reach the artist's inbox.
Tattoo studios live or die on their portfolio, but most rely entirely on Instagram to display it. That works for people who already follow you — it does nothing for someone in Ellesmere Port searching "tattoo studio near me" who has never heard of the studio. Zulu Tattoo had years of work and genuine client loyalty with no searchable home for either.
The visual bar was high. This is a business whose product is artwork, so a generic template with stock photography would have actively undermined the studio's credibility. The design had to feel as considered as the tattoos themselves without competing with them for attention.
There were two practical problems too. First, the studio works strictly by appointment, so the site needed to qualify enquiries properly rather than generating a flood of vague messages — an artist mid-session cannot triage a full inbox. Second, price is the single most common question tattoo studios field, and answering it repeatedly by message is a significant time drain.
Finally, first-time clients arrive with a lot of questions — about preparation, pain, healing and aftercare — that get asked over and over and eat into the artist's day.
We built a bold, dark-themed WordPress and Elementor site designed so the artwork is the loudest thing on the page. Restrained typography, generous space around every image and a muted interface let full-colour realism and fine-line work carry the visual weight, with a dedicated gallery giving pieces a permanent home that isn't buried under an Instagram feed.
A public pricing page answers the most-asked question before anyone sends a message, which both saves the studio time and self-qualifies enquiries. The contact flow is built around design consultations rather than instant booking — right for an appointment-only studio where every piece starts with a conversation — and routes through a custom form with a confirmation step that points people to pricing while they wait.
Digital consent forms are integrated via Stabpad, replacing paper at the studio and keeping compliance records in one place. Client testimonials and studio statistics sit inline through the page, so an established reputation is visible to someone who's never heard of the studio.
The blog does real work rather than sitting there for the sake of it. Guides on tattoo aftercare and preparing for a first tattoo answer the questions clients ask constantly — reducing repeat messages while building topical authority on searches that bring in exactly the right audience.
The build is mobile-first with structured on-page SEO throughout, including local signals for Ellesmere Port and the surrounding area, so the studio now surfaces in the local searches that were previously going entirely to competitors.
